Santa Run: done. Next stop Silverstone.
So that's the Santa Run done. I'll be honest, I wasn't looking forward to it that much. Being honest again, it was a lot of fun and pretty surreal. Oh, and easier than I thought it'd be.
I ran (no pun intended) into a blog earlier about some guys running 1095 miles in a year by doing three miles every single day (1095miles.com if you want a look), and it got me thinking. Not that I want to do three miles every day, but that cataloging my runs would be an excellent way to fill up space on my blog, especially as I often struggle to find something to write about. So that's what I'm going to do. I'll probably add a tab for it at some point too.
Now, back to the Santa Run. There was a pretty odd group warm up session. Odd for two reason. Firstly, if you've not seen a thousand or so people, all dressed in Santa outfits, doing a strange aerobics workout you've not lived. I feel sorry for anyone out for a nice walk on a winter's morning round Battersea Park. It would have freaked me out a bit.
Secondly was the "instructor" who didn't seem to be listening to the music booming out from behind her ears and did this warm up to her own beat. I've not done any kind of aerobics before, but I'm pretty sure these things should be done in time. Or is that just a crazy notion?
For the race itself, I can't really describe it much more than by saying it started, I ran for six kilometres (well, almost the full six), and then it finished. I did clock a time of 36:52. Not lightening fast, but I'm quite happy with that in my first official race.
So now I step things up. Next in the race diary is a half marathon at Silverstone in March. Thirteen miles. That seems such a long way at the moment but I'm going to have to just crack on with the training over the next three months and I'm sure I'll do just fine. If not better!
- Last Run: 6.08km
- Time: 36:52
